What's Georgiana Darcy's story? Jane Austen tells us so little in Pride and Prejudice that we're left to wonder. How did the early loss of her parents shape Miss Darcy's character? And what about her near-disastrous affair with Mr. Wickham? Is that the true source of her shyness? She adores her brother and his new wife, Elizabeth, but will their guiding influence be enough to steer Georgiana clear of new trouble as she comes of age and falls in love again?

This work is intended as a companion of sorts to The Darcys of Pemberley (sequel to Pride and Prejudice). Both novels are unique and complete in themselves, but together they supply a richer experience than either one alone. The earlier book focused primarily on Darcy and Elizabeth's relationship during their early married life. There was a third Darcy represented in the title, however. Now she and her courtship story take center stage in Miss Georgiana Darcy of Pemberley.

The author took a previous book she had written (The Darcy's of Pemberley) and re-wrote it from Georgiana's point of view. I had read the first book a long time ago and, while parts of this one were familiar, it still felt like a different--and very good--book. I enjoyed it so much I'm now re-reading the first one while this one is fresh in my mind, and I'm enjoying the experience.

This book shows how Georgiana matures, how she develops strength of character and confidence, and how her relationship with Lizzy and her brother have helped shape her as a woman, not just a girl. It is a lovely coming of age story and a sweet (and sometimes painful) romance.

Miss Georgiana Darcy of Pemberley A Pride Prejudice Sequel and Companion to the Darcys of Pemberley (Audible Audio Edition) Shannon Winslow Marian Hussey Heather Ridge Arts Books Reviews

Since I read "The Darcys of Pemberley" I understood the plot so I went to my review after I read this novel and found out I never finished writing the review.
I thought this novel was well written and done very much to what I remember happened in the first novel but this one was from Georgiana's viewpoint.
Reading this novel, you learn that she does grows in understanding and knows what she wants in life and strives to better herself and get what she wants and who she wants as a partner in life.
Wickham confused her but she learned what real love was by watching her brother and Lizzy and what they achieved in marital bliss.
However, she didn't realize by asking Lizzy to withhold information from Darcy what havoc it would cause in their marriage.
However a reader that didn't read the first novel would understand what Lizzy & Darcy were going through by the withheld information.
I would suggest to read "The Darcys of Pemberley" first and this one will be clearer to you.
I love anything having to do with Jane Austen. After really getting into Austen's work about a year ago, I have been reading many continuation books. I have to say that I love the writing style and story lines by Shannon Winslow the best. I really feel that I am reading words from Jane Austen herself! When I am reading another author's book on the same subject, I always seem to compare it to Ms. Winslow's work. I have read all of Ms. Winslow's books, so I was really looking forward to reading Miss Georgiana's story. I was certainly not disappointed either. It's great to see how sweet little Georgiana grew up after not knowing much about her life from Jane Austen herself. Ms. Winslow has shown how Georgiana has weathered heartache, betrayal and loneliness. Yet, her personality still makes her one of the sweetest and most sincere people you'd ever like to meet (in fiction!). If she were a real person, I'd like to have her as a best friend. The story line wasn't just all romance. There was quite a bit of suspense going on. I truly wasn't sure how this book was going to end. Great book! I highly recommend it to others!
Book 3/3 in The Darcys of Pemberley series. Book 1 The Darcys of Pemberley. Book 2 Return to Longbourn.

As a companion to book one, the reader knows the story-line, the high points, low points, danger and angst that was presented. The author states that it was written four years after the first book. However, I have read all the books in the series straight through so I am following fairly closely after having read the first book. I will admit to speed reading through the parts I already knew. I stopped to read the parts I didn’t know.

This book supplies Georgiana’s POV, her thoughts and feelings about her life. We have glimpses of her when she was younger, when she lost her father, her relationship with her brother William, her cousin Colonel Fitzwilliam, and then her new sister Elizabeth. She has grown into a young woman on the cusp of marriage. We hear of her presentation and her coming out, her experience at Ramsgate and her feelings about that. She reflects on what she wants in life and she has to deal with the fortune hunters and those with honorable intentions. It is sort of a coming of age book for our dear girl.

Book one was the story of Elizabeth and Fitzwilliam. Georgiana was present for most of the book; however, there were times she was missing from the page. This book supplies those blank places and fills us in on those questions left dangling from book one. It is clean, and a delightful read.
This novel covers Georgiana Darcy coming of age with much introspection and self discovery. While it is a companion to Shannon's previous tale, this story does stand alone - it will not matter greatly if you read this one first. In fact, if you read this one first, you will enjoy reading "Darcys of Pemberley" for a very different perspective - this story is from Georgiana's point of view and experiences.

I never before thought much of Georgiana's life outside of being a filler person defining Darcy's character. Well! With this novel, Georgiana is actually a character in and of herself - Darcy is used to define HER character!

I have always wondered about Darcy's heavy protection of Georgiana - beyond the Wickham incident. This story gives a very plausible answer for the behaviors of both. It explains why Darcy became so overprotective, to the detriment of Georgiana's development. The characters in this story seem to follow canon and behave similar to the original book.

The book covers Georgiana's innermost reflections on what her life at Pemberley was like and her dreams of the future. Who knew fairies were involved in her early years and were the source of nightmares!

The first half of the novel is the reflective calm before the storm, filling in gaps left unrecorded in the JA original. There are flashbacks into her past, and her feelings regarding her suitors are revealed. Considering a life away from Pemberley causes Georgiana to realize she is not prepared to be mistress of any great house. What will she do? The story draws you into the plot to the point you MUST know how it turns out.

What happens in the second half? Be not concerned, after angst left and right, all will be well. But how? No spoilers here - you have to discover her fate for yourself!
The author took a previous book she had written (The Darcy's of Pemberley) and re-wrote it from Georgiana's point of view. I had read the first book a long time ago and, while parts of this one were familiar, it still felt like a different--and very good--book.
